Virtual New Intake Evening - Thursday 9th July at 6pm
Two letters with details of the virtual New Intake Evening have been sent via the email address of the first priority parent/carer provided in the pupil information pack for current Y4 pupils due to start at St Edward's in Y5 in September. As our systems to send information to more than one parent/carer are not able to be set up until the start of the new academic year in September, if someone else has parental responsibility for your child could you please share these letters with them so that they also have the opportunity to attend.

Miss Evans – Elgar House
Hello and welcome to St Edward’s Academy! I am Miss Evans and I will be a Year 5 House Tutor to some of you when the new school year starts. Like you, I am relatively new to the school, so I can understand that you may feel a little nervous at this time. But let me reassure you, St Edward’s is a fantastic school, with kind and supportive staff who are very excited to meet you. You will soon settle into life here, where you will enjoy the lessons, the new friendships and the many new opportunities that the school has to offer.

Mrs Cooper – Newton House
Hello and a big welcome to St Edward’s Academy. I’m Mrs Cooper and will be a House Tutor for Year 5 from September 2020. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and enjoy being a House Tutor to Year 5 as it’s so lovely to see each and every one of you grow in confidence through the year and enjoy everything that is on offer at school. As your House Tutor, I will always be there to talk to and help with any problems or questions you have.
When I’m not in school, I love all sorts of exercise and take part in competitions like Ironman. I also love walking and my lovely dog (called Nala who loves carrots) always comes with us.
Mrs Loughran – Newton House
Hello! Welcome to St Edward's Academy! My name is Mrs Loughran and I am a Year 5 House Tutor. I am super excited to meet you all when you join my tutor group in September. We’re going to have so much fun!
Science is my favourite subject and I also enjoy teaching pupils about STEM; things like making catapults and building remote-control robots. I absolutely love our school and I think you will too. Everyone is very kind and patient so you will feel at home pretty quickly, as I did when I first arrived 2 years ago. I am here to help and support you during tutor-time.
As well as being a teacher, I am a mum to two teenage boys. Our family enjoys lots of outdoor hobbies like cycling, kayaking and bird watching. You will soon get used to hearing stories about my lively pet dog (Ted) and my cheeky cat (Lego) too. See you all soon! 😊
Mrs Salmon – Nightingale House
Hello! My name is Mrs Salmon and I’ve been working at St Edward’s for almost 8 years now. I teach French, German and PE. I am looking forward to meeting you all as soon as possible and I hope you are all looking forward to starting the next stage of your education here at St Edward’s.

Hello! I am Mr Burrows and will be a House Tutor for Year 5 from September 2020. I am looking forward to meeting you all as soon as possible. As your House Tutor, I will help you settle into your new school. You can talk to me about any worries or questions you might have at any time.
I have taught in a First School for many years and Primary schools, specialising in supporting primary age children. I look forward to being able to welcome you to St Edward’s Academy, introducing you to the wide variety of activities that we offer and getting to know you all very soon.
Welcome to the SEND Team. Below you will find an introduction to some of our Teaching Assistants here at St Edward’s
I am Mrs Jenkinson, a teaching assistant at St Edward’s Academy. I offer support to pupils with work in the classroom, especially when it seems slightly tricky or if it needs explaining in a different way.
You can find me in my office on the top floor next to one of the computer rooms (208).
Sometimes, pupils come and have a chat with me if they have any concerns or worries. Occasionally, they need somewhere quiet to go so I have a tent and a range of calming activities
I can’t wait to meet you in September and help you carry on your learning journey through St Edward’s.
Hello, my name is Mrs Amson and I have worked at St Edward’s Academy for almost three years. I support children in their lessons and sometimes I work with individual pupils or small groups.
My favourite lesson is maths, but I enjoy supporting pupils in all subjects. We are lucky at St Edward’s because most of our lessons are taught by subject specialists. I also enjoy getting to know the children a little better at Lego Club and Nurture Club, which take place at lunchtimes.
I very much look forward to seeing you in September
Hi there. I’m Mrs Bendall and a teaching assistant at the St Edward’s Academy.
I’ve been here for many years so you might have brothers/sisters/cousins who know me. I am terrible at names so if I’m in your class, you will have to remind me of your name many times until I learn it. If not, I’m sure that I’ll see you in school and will always be happy to help.
Hello everybody. My name is Mrs Bentley and I am one of the teaching assistants here at St Edward’s Academy.
I know starting a new school can be a little scary, but it is also just as exciting. Think of all of your new exercise books ready and waiting for you to fill and hunting websites for that ideal pencil case for your first year in middle school. Whilst you’re here with us, you will have so many new and rewarding opportunities throughout your learning journey.
You will see me around the school and sometimes in your classrooms. I am here to help you and also support the teachers in the classroom, so if you have any questions, please just ask.
See you September!
Hello, my name is Mrs Pettitt and am a teaching assistant here at St Edward’s. I can support you in the classroom if you need help with your work.
You can also come to me if you are worried about anything and I will listen and try to help you with your problems.
I run a lunchtime Nurture club for Year 5 pupils and help with Lego Therapy group sessions. I also work with small groups of pupils who need extra support during form time.
Hello, I am Mrs Pinto and I am one of the Teaching Assistants at St Edward’s Academy. My role within the school is to support pupils within the classroom.
